It was a pleasant Saturday in Atenveldt, during the Fall of 1973 Gregorian, when Rayne first glimpsed what was to be a huge part her life - men in armor and ladies in long flowing gowns.  Since that first day she traveled, lived and SCA-ed in many Kingdoms - Atenveldt, East, Atlantia, Drachenwald, Artemisia, West, Ansteorra, and Calontir.  She moved to Meridies in 1980 upon her return from Drachenwald.  

Rayne is affiliated with many wonderful households: Fine Caraid (household of her Knight husband), Mermayde Keepe (household of her Pelican/Laurel Peer), Tribe Zareefat (Middle Eastern household) and NOVA (Viking household).  

Rayne believes that there are three types of people in the SCA… those that primarily just go to events, those that go to meetings (and maybe their local group's events) and then a combination of the two.   Rayne spent her first 15 years in the SCA in the first category.  Just going to events now and then, never attending a meeting and never having a SCA membership.  Then she joined a group that "needed" her to hold an office, so she got a membership and started attending meetings.  She is now the later combined category and happy to have made the transition and learning that service is really part of the fun.

Awards and Recognitions:  Award of Arms, Grant of Arms, Companion of the Sable Keep (Sol Haven Service Award), Companion of the Order of the Red Raven (Barony of South Downs Service Award), The Order of the Guiding Hand~Meridies,  The Order of Compostella, Meridies,  The Order of the Meridian Cross, The Order of the Argent Comet~Meridies, The Order of the Bough~Meridies. 

Past Offices held: Shire and Baronial Chirurgeon, Seneschale, Chatelaine, Chronicler, and Dean of the Meridian College of Middle and Far Eastern Studies.  

Areas of Service:  Autocrat, Feastcook, Chirurgeon, Troll, and Instructor. 
Rayne has taught a number of classes on a wide variety of subjects at the Pennsic War, Estrella War, Border Raids, Gulf Wars, Fool's War and many other events.
